Hell will probably freeze over before Sony, Nintendo, or MS make a gaming system together for the future of gaming. But what about the past? Who feels the three big company's should get together and make a single system that can play any game from previous systems (PS1, PS2, N64, SNES, NES, Xbox, ect.) and be able to download old games from PSN, Wii VC, Live.

I'm sure it's doable and would be doing something for the gamers for once.

I don't know, it seems kind of pointless, although I wouldn't mind it. I'm fine having the separate consoles personally.

The problem with working together to create one universal console is it will violate the law of sole marketing shares i.e. a company can never own 100% of the income in a particular market. Another company has to be providing some kind of competition. It's why AMD chips exist when Dell chips are clearly better in every way shape or form...to create a competitive market. It is why Microsoft couldn't let Apple shut down etc.

Still I would like to see PS1 and N64 combined into 1 with maybe a bit of NES thrown in too

if companies can't do it, then fans can.

Actually, there is something that can play them all. Sure, hacking is involved, but it's worth it. This piece of technology is called a PC! :D Well, except PS3 games as far as I know.

I meant it's not possible to rom PS3 games. Blu-Rays are too special. :/ Unless your one of those genius pirates.

I don't think it will be all that long until it happens. If they managed to get Wii games emulated even with the motion controls, they'll get PS3 games emulated

correct me if i am wrong, but i have never seen a "chipset" made by Dell, Dell simply makes computers,
there are chipset companies that make the boards (AMD, intel, VIA, soyo, etc.) and Dell simply puts their name on everything else,
but to my knowledge Dell has never made an actual chipset

and Dell and Gateway might be OK as "cookie-cutter" computers, but will never outlast a hand-built system, because the crap companies like those dont use quality companies like Corsair and Western Digital, instead they use Fujitsu and Kingston :(
i built my first computer by hand over 12 years ago and that system is still running strong,

flashing bluray drives in PS3's is not hard, its a simple flash of the firmware and some other modding through the PC, and any PS3 can be "jailbroken" (in more then 1 way)...
its about having the software..

OK cheers for clearing that up Repair :) That is what I thought the case to be. I have just always found Intel which is always got the DELL brand on it, to be a better chipset than AMD

Though Dell aren't really good if you're looking for a good machine designed for gaming. Always better to do the shopping yourself. A hell of a lot cheaper than buying readymade if you know what you're doing in regards to piecing it together

I want to see someone give me a pirated version of a PS3 game...
I would but that could get me in deep  .
Dolphin the emu for GC could run Wii games within a few weeks of the wiis release.
Really I feel that if the big guys would look at what PC company's have done they would go for locked emus(Sega uses something close to gens for there steam games). PS2 emus are close to being 95% I'd say and Xbox seems dead in the water.
