Read from CBR:

Roiland appeared in court on Jan. 12 for a pre-trial hearing regarding a criminal complaint filed against him in May 2020. The document charges Roiland with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. In 2020, the Rick and Morty co-creator pleaded not guilty to an incident that allegedly occurred between himself and an anonymous woman who was dating Roiland at the time.

According to public documents, Orange County police arrested and released Roiland in August 2020 on a $50,000 bond. In October 2020, a protective order prohibited Roiland from going within 100 feet of the woman and ordered him to turn in any owned or possessed firearms. The protective order is in effect until October 2023. Other information surrounding the case remains scarce, with no trial date currently set. At the Jan. 12 hearing, Roiland's attorney discussed an available plea offer, but there are no known details as of this writing.

The judge ordered Roiland to attend another hearing on April 27. Police body camera footage, police reports, abuse investigation reports, medical reports and recordings of interviews are not available to the public due to a protective order in place.

So that realization of Rick and Morty in a courtroom was all foreshadowing. Imagine if you put this:
as evidence.

I actually saw this update on Facebook where one guy talked about it but I felt that it wasn't true.

I'm glad to hear that the police are doing their job at arresting Roiland for domestic violence instead of ignoring the woman's call for help.

I really wonder why some people get into the act of domestic violence. If it's no longer working, walk away.

I feel some domestic abusers have angry personality disorders which can cause them to be violent instead of walking away which would be the lawful thing to do. Angry personality disorders could caused by a mental illness or addiction like drug addiction which also cause them to be violent. Some domestic abusers may have bad people in their life which may teach them that violence can be use to solve domestic problems.

I completely agree with you on the assessment of them being mentally ill. It's the only logical conclusion I can think of.

The alleged behind-the-scenes behavior of Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland continues to unravel as new details emerge about his harassment of staffers during his time on the Adult Swim show.

Roiland would discuss his penchant for threesomes with writers on the show, sent a staffer a "really creepy" late-night text, asking her to come to his home. The source stated, "She didn’t want to run it up the flagpole, and then it was just this really fucked-up, awkward thing." The incident took place while Roiland worked on Season 3 of Rick and Morty. Cartoon Network investigated his alleged workplace misconduct in 2020, though it's unknown if the company took any action against Roiland.

The report also delved into his increasingly "acrimonious" relationship with fellow Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon which, at one point, required mediation. Though the effort to rectify their relationship failed, they put their differences aside to secure a 70-episode renewal for the animated sitcom in 2018. Furthermore, it's reported Roiland displayed immature behavior countless times at work and didn't show up to the office at all.

Some people really have a very serious personality problem in their life.

From what I've also seen, sounds like he mostly did voice work, so if they can find a matching voice, seems like R&M will remain the same.

Read an update from Polygon:

The Rick and Morty creator says the case against him has been dismissed. He finally responded to the accusations against him publicly in a statement posted to Twitter.

“I have always known that these claims were false — and I never had any doubt that this day would come,” Roiland wrote. “I’m thankful that this case has been dismissed but, at the same time, I’m still deeply shaken by the horrible lies that were reported about me during this process. Most of all, I’m disappointed that so many people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts, based on solely on the word of an embittered ex trying to bypass due process and have me ‘canceled.’ That it may have succeeded, even partially, is shameful. However, now that the legal case has ended, I’m determined to move forward and focus both on my creative projects and restoring my good name.”

Court documents obtained by Polygon from the Superior Court of California show that a hearing scheduled for Wednesday was canceled. A spokesperson for the District Attorney confirmed to Polygon that Roiland’s case had been dismissed due to “insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.”
