Read from CBR:
Roiland appeared in court on Jan. 12 for a pre-trial hearing regarding a criminal complaint filed against him in May 2020. The document charges Roiland with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. In 2020, the Rick and Morty co-creator pleaded not guilty to an incident that allegedly occurred between himself and an anonymous woman who was dating Roiland at the time.
According to public documents, Orange County police arrested and released Roiland in August 2020 on a $50,000 bond. In October 2020, a protective order prohibited Roiland from going within 100 feet of the woman and ordered him to turn in any owned or possessed firearms. The protective order is in effect until October 2023. Other information surrounding the case remains scarce, with no trial date currently set. At the Jan. 12 hearing, Roiland's attorney discussed an available plea offer, but there are no known details as of this writing.
The judge ordered Roiland to attend another hearing on April 27. Police body camera footage, police reports, abuse investigation reports, medical reports and recordings of interviews are not available to the public due to a protective order in place.
