The world of RoboCop is about to expand. The film's original screenwriter, Edward Neumeier, revealed that he is working with MGM on a TV series set before the events of the original 1987 film, focused on corrupt OCP executive Dick Jones.
"It has all the cool stuff about RoboCop except no RoboCop," "I’m working with these two writers, Dave Parkin and Rob Gibbs, who bought this idea to a TV producer friend of mine, who then brought it to me. The first time I heard it I knew it was a cool idea because I could see a lot of things you could do with it. It’s such an interesting character."
Neumeier said that, in keeping with the tradition of the original film, he wanted to use the series as a biting satire on current events. He also said that MGM was looking for partners to get the pilot off the ground.
