Production company Rooster Teeth is making a big return, following its initial closure in May 2024. The news came after it was revealed that the Rooster Teeth brand had been repurchased by Burnie Burns, one of the company's initial founders.
In a press release posted online, original founder Burnie Burns confirmed he had reacquired the company he sold to Fullscreen back in 2014, in a deal that includes the brand and "much of its remaining assets" under his independent company, Box Canyon Productions. Some assets were sold separately upon Rooster Teeth's initial closure, including its flagship anime in RWBY. It remains to be seen which assets remain under the Rooster Teeth banner. In the press release, it was confirmed that "the historic brand plans to renew its focus on innovation, community engagement, and the spirit of creativity that first defined its success," with Burns being "excited at the challenge of bringing Rooster Teeth back to its roots," which can already be seen in the return of its classic logo.
Burns also addressed the purchase on his daily podcast, Morning Somewhere, which he shares with his wife and former colleague Ashley Burns. In it, he asked Rooster Teeth fans to avoid asking previous employees online if they're returning to the company in the future, with many already undergoing new and successful ventures.
