Rotting Flesh from a Spider Bite?

Probably a brown recluse spider. Just look up images of brown recluse spider bites. They are horrifying. Their venom makes flesh rot within hours. They should have just amputated his ear.

Apparently they can be found in the southern part of my state, so not going down there.
