Just like Anime is for Japanese animated cartoons, JRPG is for RPG with a distinctly Japanese style in game design, custom, characterization, etc. What kinds of games do you like, RPG or JRPG? As far as I am concerned, style does not matter, what I actually look for in a game is the gameplay and game design.

I play both, and prefer JRPGS coz they tend to be more creative with the rpg design and story imo.

Your definition of JRPG is more complicated than it needs to be, it's literally just a Japanese made RPG.

I personally prefer JRPG's because most of them tend to be linear, and I'm not too fond of super open games. The openness of the game makes the story not really feel important or pressing. Makes it not feel like there's an impending doom if I can spend hundreds of hours on ignoring the story.

I have honestly probably rarely ever played a regular RPG like say Magi-Nation, but JRPGs I have played quite a bit. Not really interested in the DnD format I guess, because it is convoluted with numbers and attributes, but maybe when I get tired of JRPGs I will try one of those variants. Just not as interesting to me at this moment.
