saw this talked about on kotaku, so what do you believe is worse? MS's Red Ring of Death or the playstation network being down?

At this point, Nintendo is the only company that hasn't had a major problem that caused gamers to be without full gaming abilities to the system they owned.

PSN being down is worse since the hackers stole members personal information and credit card numbers which can lead to years of identity theft where people use your name to take out loans, credit cards, and other information in your name. I heard on your news that recovering from ID theft can take years to clean up.

It's easy to replace a broken Xbox, but spending years to get your good credit back can be very hard, and can affect your credit score which makes buying a car or home a lot more expensive if you have to borrow money from the bank.

I wanted to put the last one down to be funny. Anyway, I say RRoD because only 900 people's info was stolen, and I wouldn't want to pay for a new console and do all those games again for the saves.

Console's breaking are one of the reasons which I like about using external hard drives and Memory cards which are removable like the PS2 memory cards since it is easy to re-insert my saves into my new console by plugging it into the new console.

Id say neither is good in any way. RRoDs are usually signs that your Xbox360 is messed up and you have to go fix it. PSN got hacked means that everyone just lost all their privacy and all their details are there for the hackers to see so neither outcome is good for any gamer. Microsoft and Sony really need to work on these problems.

I voted for the last option although I don't wholly agree with the get a life part. However I have views on both. As was mentioned above a RRoD is probably a pain in the ass but that's why 360 users have an extended warranty for it and losing saved games isn't a big deal really. The PSN hack was a serious problem. That cannot be denied but it was very simple to address. As no firm proof had emerged that card details were stolen, the threat was not as bad. Hackers having my personal details is not the biggest of issues especially when you consider that the entire internet has access to most of them anyway through mediums such as social network sites, charity sites which sell your information to sales companies etc. The card information was easily fixed, I deactivated my card and got a new one. Simple solutions. I must admit on a side note that I am happy with Sony's welcome back programme especially considering the PSN hack had no effect on me as I have been sucked into Oblivion and Heavy rain this last month :P
