WayForward streamed a teaser trailer on Friday for its, Rooster Teeth, and Arc System Works' upcoming RWBY: Arrowfell game for the RWBY franchise. The video revealed that the game will debut in 2022 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will have a digital release as well as a physical release for select platforms.

WayForward describes the game:

Occurring during the events of RWBY Volume 7, RWBY: Arrowfell is an original interactive chapter straight from RWBY writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas. Players will take control of Team RWBY — Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long — and switch between them on the fly in solo or multiplayer action (local or online) as they use their trademark weapons and semblances to stop a mysterious new threat in this side-scrolling, 2D adventure.

As players explore Atlas, Mantle, and numerous surrounding environments, they will face off against the Creatures of Grimm and other enemies straight from the show, as well as never-before-seen threats. The team also crosses paths with familiar faces including General Ironwood and the Ace Operatives, plus a fearless new group of Huntresses known as Team BRIR.

The game will feature seven minutes of "exclusively created broadcast-quality animated" cutscenes.

This looks like it could be a lot of fun. When I heard Arc Systems was involved I was a little worried. Nothing against them, I just know they make a lot 1v1 fighting games, which aren't really my kind of games. I mean, if it did turn out to be that, as long as it had a story I'd play it, but I'm glad it turned out to be this. It looks like it could be fun.

I'm also not 100% sure how I feel about the chibi art style. I was fine with it until Wayforward showed off old designs on Twitter.

Honestly, I think the first design was really nice. Though how it looks isn't really a big deal. It's more how it plays, which is looks good in that aspect.

I would've been fine with that design too. The second from the right is too close to the Shantae art style. Which I like in regards to Shantae, but for this it would be weird. Unless we get a RWBY X Shantae crossover, which I didn't know I wanted until this moment.

same, I think it would be very fun if the two series met.

Good animation but don't we have enough Shantae on the Switch? haha, They look similar in gameplay already.
That would make sense. It's also being made by Wayfoward.

I'm super excited to play this game with another friend of mine that like RWBY, but I really hope we get an open world RWBY game eventually.

I'm glad we have a release date and I'm super excited for this. However, with the whole RT thing, it feels wrong wanting to support it. Thankfully I wouldn't call it a day 1 buy. Not with Sonic Frontier and Pokemon coming out so close to it.

I like to think we're supporting RWBY more than RT, but I'm waiting for this game to be cheap or free on PSN, its way too... low end looking for full price.

Yeah, I had a friend that said, "Think of it more as 'You're excited for a new Wayforward game'" which is also true. Yeah, I'm hoping to play it with a friend so I'll probably wait until we find time to play it before I buy it.
