Today, it appears that Samsung is making the choice to walk back that stance. In another statement provided to Venture Beat today, Samsung claims that it "will be issuing a patch through the Samsung Software Update notification process to revert back to the recommended automatic Windows Update settings within a few days," essentially restoring the default function of Windows Update as recommended by Microsoft.

I wonder if any of the Windows Update will cause problems  for Samsung computers if users suddenly have to install hundreds of Windows Updates at once after Windows Update is turned ON because it got disabled for a very long time.

Can you still change your update settings after that patch though?

I think you can change update settings again unless Samsung makes the patch force people to update their PC automatically .

Why were the updates stopped in the first place? I wonder what made them change their mind...
I think they were disable by Samsung because Windows Update update hardware drivers which are not compatible with Samsung's hardware on their PCs. Disabling Windows Update also probably made fewer people call Samsung's tech support because a Windows Update messed up their computer where it can't login, or crash a lot, so Samsung may secretly disable updates to avoid so many problems caused by failed Windows Update.

I notice sometimes the hardware drivers in Windows update are outdated, or the wrong driver which cause hardware like my SD Card reader, or sound card to stop working.

Interesting... So, if they're so bad, how come no other computer manufacturer besides Samsung did this? I don't really think it's advisable to disable them. I mean, they may not be perfect, but Microsoft knows what it's doing. They're been in this game for decades. The updates are there for a reason.

Windows Update is just a phrase in and off it's self that tends to make me cringe. My computer doesn't like them, acts as if it's a dog being dragged into a vet's office. LOL I know, weird analogy but it's the best thing I could come up with.

I don't like how Windows Updates sometimes breaks my computer, and some updates fail to install where I need to try to install them again, or spend a longtime searching Microsoft help forums for help on making Windows Update work properly. The Microsoft help forums are not very helpful since most of their solutions don't work at fixing my Windows update problems.

I notice Windows update seem to be less reliable ever since Windows Vista, 7, and 8/8.1 where Updates failed to install a lot of the time.
