Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web began streaming the first promotional video for the new Sword Art Online II television anime on Tuesday. Aniplex of America is streaming the same trailer on its official YouTube channel.

The official Sword Art Online website announced the main cast and staff on Tuesday. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will reprise his role as the main protagonist Kirito from the Sword Art Online anime series. Miyuki Sawashiro will also reprise her role as Shinon from the Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment PSP video game.

Tomohiko Ito will again direct the series at A-1 Pictures, and Shingo Adachi will again adapt abec's original character designs for animation.

Sword Art Online II will launch in 2014. The announcement was made during Tuesday's premiere of the Sword Art Online: Extra Edition special and on the franchise's updated website. The website gives the new arc the subtitle "Phantom Bullet." More details will be announced on the site at a later date.

Watched it last night, its mostly a recap of the first season, but also has some like 40mins of new scenes. It was a good watch (although I did skip some parts).

Yes, but I think its mostly meant as a prequel to Gun Gale Online.

I am actually really hyped for this. The first 25 episodes of Sword Art Online were great in my opinion. I can't wait until this comes out so I can watch it as soon as possible.

I am hyped. Maybe too hyped, I don't want to be disappointed. I did enjoy SAO quite a bit. The Alfheim arc was a bit hard for me to get through simply because I felt there wasn't very much interesting things going on and the 'villain' was kind of lame in my opinion, but I still think SAO was great. I haven't read the novels but a lot of people have good things to say about Gun Gale so hopefully it can live up to the hype. And anyways, guns and great animation? I can't wait.

Apparently they will show the first episode at Anime Expo but I'm not sure if I'll go to it.
