This is one scary Android virus which can hold data hostage demanding ransom money. Some things like contacts, game save files for mobile games, and settings for apps are harder to backup.
I think Smartphone hackers, viruses, malware, and spyware will be one of the reasons that some people will go back to using a regular cell phones which can only make calls, text, and play simple cell phone games like snakes, pong, and tetris.
I wonder would it be possible to manually install an App on someone phone or tablet by plugging in a SD card, or Micro usb flash drive with an Android APK virus installer file, and demand cash to unlock the person data instead of tricking someone to install an App, or hacking into their mobile with a computer which can be more difficult.
