At Electronic Arts' E3 press conference today, EA Mobile VP Travis Boatman revealed that an update to Scrabble for the iPhone and iPod Touch is on the way which adds WiFi multiplayer functionality. The current Scrabble on the App Store, one of EA's three launch titles that debuted last week in time for the iPhone 3G debut, currently does not offer online multiplayer. While Scrabble is certainly playable as-is, the lack of online multiplayer was a noticeable oversight as there is a vibrant online Scrabble community.
Boatman did not give an exact date for the update, nor a hint as to whether or not current Scrabble owners get the upgrade for free.
