Our desperation for any news related to Final Fantasy Versus XIII has made us turn to a job listing post at Square Enix's Japanese website. The publisher recently posted a listing soliciting planners (that's like a designer) for the game.
According to the recruitment page, Square Enix wants both battle planners and level design planners.
The battle planner position will require work on the "creation of enemy characters for an action RPG." The applying candidate should have experience making PS3 and Xbox 360 package games.
(Just a note before the comments start filling up. Versus XIII is currently PlayStation 3 exclusive. The mention of Xbox 360 in there could simply mean that they just want someone with experience working on HD consoles.)
The level design planner asks for those with experience making action games and will require work on the creation of level designs based off the scenario.
With the requirement for action development experience, we're thinking that Versus could be more action heavy than initially expected!
Successful candidates will get to work on one of the most anticipated games in development in Japan right now. That presumably means they'll also get to see it well in advance of the rest of the world.
For the rest of us, our first true glimpse should happen in January at the Fabula Nova Crystallis press conference in Tokyo.
