Oh dear, talk about not getting what people over there like, and thinking a game about a talking hedgehog had to be in the style of a First Person Shooter:

After Sonic Adventure, we had two studios, in the US and Japan

The Japanese Studio was to develop a Sonic game in the standard style, and the US studio was to develop something different which could contribute to the Sonic franchise.

Different eh? Always a bad sign.

That background generated the Shadow game as he appeared from Sonic Adventure. We wanted to offer other game systems to attract a different audience from traditional Sonic fans. In the US, first and third-person shooters were popular and we decided to go with a character who could work with them.

So somehow, they saw Call of Duty and Gears of War, and thought making a Sonic spinoff along the same lines would work... oh great.

I actually didn't mind Shadow the Hedgehog, although I was shit at playing it with the albeit clunky controlls, I still got enjoyment out of the game. Although, I don't think the die-hard sonic fans liked the change, seems like Nintendo tried to make it for a wider audience than go with what was tried and true.

Shadow the Hedgehog was the shit. I don't get why everyone thought it was such a horrible game. I completed it 100% and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I liked the game too, it was fun all its own...kept true to the "Sonic Adventure" story and all. It actually ended the sonic adventure story. Could have been built a bit better, but hey..I bought the game and don't regret it. it's fun to play every know and then. The gins don't make much of a difference..it makes it more interactive, plus there's more than just guns. If people gave it a chance before bashing, i'm sure many more would like it.

I've never at all been attracted to Sonic. Smells too much like dead fish if ya ask me.
