Money being money is hard to deal with in itself. People have more money and less time. People still have to work to be able to keep the stuff they have. A lot of the work in this industry is risk because the future is the most unpredictable. It may be sustainable, but if it is, by very slim margins.

I do love AAA games, but I do wonder how companies take a big gamble on it.
