Sherlock

I heard it was very interesting. It runs what, 1 hour - 1:30 shows apparently? Definitely going to give it a try this weekend!

They do run long, they're basically movie length, I think they're all 1:30. But, they go by fast and there aren't many episodes. I watched the first two episodes and I'm hooked myself, I liked the first episode a little more than the second, but both were very good. I definitely recommend it as well, especially if you're looking for new stuff to watch on Netflix.

Yes. Each episode is basically a movie so I don't really recommend trying to watch the entire series at once. However, the episodes do move by fairly quickly. Let me know what you think of the show after you start watching it!

I don't like the show at all, I was so disappointed with it. I really wanted it to be a good adaptation. But it made Sherlock seem more like a mean child than an arrogant detective, who's still a gentleman. The cases are pretty cringeworthy, too. Without getting into spoiler territory it's hard to explain, but it's just as if they didn't actually care about making a worthwhile mystery. A lot of the show is just Sherlock being nasty to people and making the tired joke that everybody thinks Watson and Sherlock are a gay couple. I'm not going to watch the second season.

I can see that. I think it might be the difference in humor? After all, British makes fun of the silly compare to the States where we make fun of the stupid (at least...that's how I look at it). Are there any Sherlock shows/movies that you did enjoy?

I have watched every episode about five times.

I enjoyed watching the two seasons but some episodes felt weak with Sherlock's reasoning being too stretched. he also suffers for the always right complex (his suspicious and reasoning is always the right explanation, his cold actions does't really bring it consequences, etc) which makes him harder to relate with him unless we like the characters in the series shrug it off like "it's Sherlock" and just get used to it.

I had a roller-coaster with some episodes that actually shaken his cold reasoning because I enjoy as they show more of his human side, his emotions fears, developing of friendship and deep care, etc but many of them are revealed afterwards with an undertone of manipulative calculated reaction by Sherlock to gain information, prove a point, etc which immediately breaks the empathy back to nil. Eventually you just distrust everything he does and know there is no spontaneous, emotional or careless act or words without a hidden agenda. you have to accept it and start appreciating what he is actually accomplishing. Overall I like the humour, the cases and the what if scenario of them being people from this era premise.

I just feel like the show could have stood better on its own even if the characters had winking names instead of being exactly that, since Sherlock & Watson brings to mind a strong image that are not in the series, but once I let go of that I started to enjoyed the show better. I do recommend it and I think it can positively surprise you if you are open minded that this is not meant to be a loyal adaptation.
