Read from Gematsu:

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster for PlayStation 4 and Switch. It will launch on October 29 in Japan, and in spring 2021 worldwide.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster is based on Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition, which features Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV from the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha series as a replacement for Dante from the Devil May Cry series, who appeared as a guest character in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax. The remaster features improved graphics and gameplay, voiced event scenes (which can be switched on or off), “Normal” and “Hard” difficulty settings, plus the release of a “Merciful” difficulty setting as free downloadable content.

maybe you were under leveled?
It’s kinda sorta true. Persona 4G and P5 are really easy compared to the older titles, especially the mainline games. You’re technically underleveled, but you also have to consider your protag’s strengths and abilities along with your demon party as well. Recent Persona games are more nerfed.

The older mainline games also had the BS of requiring the micromanagement of Magecite. So you have to have it to keep demons summoned in your party, and it depletes just from walking around, and faster the more you have summoned.

Status effects were busted in SMt1. Bufu and Zio have a 99% chance of freezing and paralyzing. That includes the enemies. So good luck whenyou come across an enemy that’s faster and knows mazio....

Let’s also not forget having that one random encounter that’s significantly stronger than all of the enemies in the dungeon, oh, and can sometimes be tougher than the boss of that dungeon.

Yep, like the Reaper appearing if you linger too long.
