I think web browsers on game consoles should be optional, and uninstallable since  not everyone needs a web browser on their console, and web browsers on consoles are not very good.

Web browsers on consoles are not as useful or good as Smartphone and tablet web browsers which are getting better, and more advanced where they are almost as good as desktop based web browsers. Plus, there are settop boxes like Chromecast, Android TV, and Windows 8.1 based settop boxes/mini computers which has better web browsers like Firefox, Chrome, and Opera.

Would you uninstall them from your console(s) if they made them uninstallable?
Yes, I probably would to save space. I have an old Xbox 360 Arcade which has only 512MB of usable space, and some of the space is used for the operating system, and other programs and files which came with my Xbox 360.

Xbox's 360 Internet Explorer browser uses space which I rather use for Game saves, digital downloadable games, DLC/Downloadable Digital Content, and other downloadable content.

The Ouya and Playstation Vita TV consoles also don't have a lot of free space for installing more games and apps on their internal storage drive.

The Vita TV comes with 1GB of internal space, and the Ouya has 8GB of internal space. I rather use the free space for installing games rather than having apps like a web browser or media player which I won't use because I own a PC, Laptop, and tablet with better web browsers and media player. Plus, those Sony Memory Sticks for Vita TV, and faster USB flash drives and SSDs to expand the Ouya's storage are very expensive.

Do they take up much space though? Granted I don't even know what browser they used at least for playstation.

If you uninstalled the browser from your console and afterwards decided that you want to use the browser, how would you install it back? Would you get it from the PlayStation store? :ermm:
I guest you would probably need to download it again from PSN store, or use a disc with the web browser to re-install it.

I think people who bought the PS3 super Slim with only 12GB of internal flash storage would want to uninstall all non-gaming related apps because 12GB is not a lot of space for files like PSN digital games, and DLC, or even game installs.
