Should I use rubbing Alcohol to fix my DS cartridge?

I've been having trouble getting my R4 to be read on my original DS lately. I tested games such as Super Mario 64 DS and Mario Kart and they all seem to work fine so I know for a fact that my DS is not the problem. It's my R4. I researched online and found some information that the bottom part of the little motherboard of a cartridge can be damaged by getting dirty which results in preventing a cartridge from being read on the DS. I found solutions that require using rubbing alcohol on it to do the job by cleaning off the germs. I was going to give it a go but I want to hear some suggestions on what I should do:

Here's a photo of the back of my R4 if anyone wants to inspect it. I took the photo through my 3DS so the quality's kinda bad. I always played it back when it was still working so there are markings on the brackets (which are barely visible due to the lighting of the camera).

Are there any other solutions I can use besides rubbing alcohol? Also... if the cartridge's little motherboard getting dirty isn't the problem, please post down other damages it can have.

Well, in my experience water has seemed to work well in cleaning DS carts. Don't submerge it or anything, just rub it lightly with a cloth or something.

Meh, best try Nds4ios... Best DS emulator ever. No jailbreaking's required!

Thanks but no thanks. I prefer the DS more. I enjoy playing the GBC / SNES emulator, and DDR on it as well.
