Bethesda announced today that over 3.5 million copies of Skyrim were sold during the game's first two days in stores. The company is expecting the game to earn over $450 million in worldwide sales across all platforms.
"We are grateful for the fans' response to Skyrim," said Robert Altman, CEO of ZeniMax (Bethesda's parent company). "Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company's history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides."
Seven million copies of the game were shipped to retailers, meaning over 50% of stock has already been sold. "Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever," said director Todd Howard. "After over three years of development, we're finally excited to get it into everyone's hands."
Skyrim has also seen massive success on Steam, where it topped the charts with over 287,000 concurrent players.
