Since the Holidays are over with, here’s a question. Do any of you ever get sleepy after a certain meal? Turkey is known to have tryptophan which can induce sleepiness. Have you found that to be the case? Even warm milk before bed can help.
What foods do you find make you sleepy?
For me it’s not so much the meal but the quantity. Eating carbs can make me sleepy but eating a huge dinner with mainly carbs & I just want a nap!
Tryptophan (from turkey, and probably others) will do that to you.
So far, ALL of the stuff my husband and I made for Turkey Day and Christmas.. and also, the fact that we got a late start on both holidays for cooking and ended up pulling an all nighter on both to get it done.
But it isn't really surprising, the stuff we usually cook during the holidays are known as "comfort foods" for a reason..
If I have eaten a lot of food and I am feeling quite full, I will admit I do feel a little tired and sluggish but I find that is to be expected after eating as much as you do.
