Smallville Coming to an End

Smallville has lasted longer than anyone could have expected – several times it was presumed the show was likely going to end, only for it to be renewed. But as the series heads towards Season 10, star Tom Welling says it's time to wrap up the story of the not-quite-Superman version of Clark Kent.

"Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season," Welling says, in a new interview with HollywoodLife.com. Welling doesn't elaborate, however TVByTheNumbers is now reporting they are hearing from multiple sources that The CW will indeed officially announce Smallville is going into its final season tomorrow at their Upfront presentation.

This is likely a relief for fans who have been worried for years that the producers wouldn't be given adequate warning to head towards a proper ending for the series - Now we know they have all of next season to show how Clark Kent ends up putting on that red cape.

Update: That was fast. Moments after I posted this story, Variety reported that The CW is confirming that Smallville will end next season.

I wonder if they will continue on with a spin off series about the real life adventures of superman?

They might do that, or try to emulate what they did with Smallville but for another superhero. They know that this format works, and so I can't seethe reason why they wouldn't try the same with other heroes.

Perhaps something with Batman, the Fantastic 4, or the X-Men. I think that those would be great to replace Smallville.. I am sure they plan on doing something seeing as how the CW has consistently gone downhill since they merged. I think that Smallville, Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries were the only good shows they've had keeping that network afloat.

Smallville is one of my favourite shows on the CW. I hope the ending would be good. I wonder if there will be a Smallville themed movie in the future.
