The designs on the boxes for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire sure look different to normal, so do you think that means new mega forms are included for them?
And if so, does that hint that new Pokemon/mega forms/whatever don't need to be on the X and Y game cards to be included? Because we never came across a Mega Groudon or Kyogre through hacking, so that hints we might be getting new Mega Evos and Pokemon through DLC or the likes.
I don't think so. I mean it wouldn't surprise me, but they don't look mega on the covers. It looks like a more "epic" art style to fit the names "alpha" and "omega."
Actually they glowed in the original games. Like when you encounter them they glow. I remember when Team Aqua was surrounding Kyogre he started to glow, then it rained non stop.
I've been speculating about this since the trailer revealed. You can clearly see these are forms for Groudon and Kyogre. Groudon glows blue in Ruby, I mean even the start screen you seem him glow blue in Ruby, and Kyogre glows red in the start screen of Sapphire. And surprisingly, on the box cover both glow Yellow with some very notable features.
For one, Groudon seems to have an Omega symbol on its hands. Usually if they would even glow at all it'd be a perfect circle but this looks more of a C to me. At first I though, maybe his fist might be covering so it looks like a C, but it has absolutely nothing. And also he seems to have like tiger patterns on his front side that glow yellow. I just can't really see this as just an ordinary display with no meaning.
Same goes for Kyogre. His fin already resembled an A but it's more defined now with the glow added on it. Also, it's lips have changed to a turquoise color and anything else connecting to its lips have also changed. And then that notable pattern on its forehead.
I seriously do believe this is a type of new change they're adding possibly exclusive to just these two and a third for Rayquaza, I mean it just sounds reasonable that Rayquaza will have a form as well.
Another thing to add, I don't think this a Mega evolution. I mean what exactly did they evolve to? They're still the same just with different features. I mean has there been a mega evolution that looks similar to each other? I mean they're bodies have not change to be an evolution so I rule that out and just stick with a form like Kyurem/Keldeo/Meloetta or something.
