Seems disappointing if you ask me, why not use some different new characters, or even some interesting texture swaps (maybe like Dry Bowser, Metal Mario or biker Wario from WarioWare?)

God this is so thrilling isn't it? What a waste of an interesting feature so far.
Reading a few other sites, the Japanese site apparently already said that the QR codes would only unlock new Yoshi colors...joke's on us English speakers?
At any rate, though, that's really disappointing; they could have at least made changes to more than one character with the codes. I like Yoshi as much as anyone else, but seven recolors is excessive.
They should do more than just Yoshi's colors, like different costumes for all of the characters (e.g. a Dr. Mario outfit for Mario, etc.). Still a cute concept, I guess, for the sake of reading QR codes.
I must be the only one, then, that doesn't think this is excessive. Sure it's a slightly poor use of the feature, but personally I don't care much, I'd rather have Yellow, Red, Black and White Yoshi anyway. Be thankful they went this far, they could've totally skipped the idea anyway.
Let's face it, Mario Power Tennis enabled Yoshi to change colours when using his special move. This game, I'm pretty sure, has no such feature, but perhaps the whole changing colours thing for Yoshi was liked just enough for this.
Personally, being a Yoshi fan, I think it's fantastic. More characters should've been done, I'll admit, but I don't care, I have more Yoshi colours to choose from.
