Would it have been better or worse? I mean, you can still see remnants of the game's original art style in the opening and ending scenes:

If the whole game was made using that art style and Miyamoto hadn't changed it to protest Nintendo wanting him to make the game look like Donkey Kong Country, would the game have been better or worse?

Maybe... *sniff* Maybe....
Although in all honesty I really love the crayon drawn style of the game. So no, I probably wouldn't prefer pre-rendered graphics. Besides, that was eventually done with Yoshi's Story on the N64.

No way. I love it's current style. I would have hated the game if the art style remained the way the intro and end look... I hated that look. I think it fit Donkey Kong Country though without a doubt,

I prefer current graphic style they used for the game playing. The sprites made for the Donkey Kong Country series were damn beautiful. I can imagine if Rare helped work on the sprites for Yoshi's Island and making it as good as Donkey Kong Country's but I'm already used to what's already been done.

i think yoshi's island is the best looking game ever

i say stick with the crayon graphics although i do like the current graphics

The crayon look was a more original and innovative approach to come up with at the time. I give them credit for going ahead with something like that that really set the game apart.

Having said that, it's one of those games I never really got into, so I don't have any nostalgic attachment to it. I think it's something about the gameplay that just doesn't work for me, but it's possible the look may have put off a portion of the audience that might have otherwise liked this sort of game.

I really like pre-rendered sprites though. When it's nicely animated like in the DK games, it's such a magical looking style. That was just as innovative. I still think it's a great look.
