The actual date, I don't know, but we're basically close to getting the new plan. For those who are curious, I think my current download speed is something crap like 0.03 to 0.05 Mbps. (REALLY outdated, I know).

I think I'll hopefully be upgrading so that now I can acheive up to 20 Mbps download speeds with good conditions, and a bare minimum of 10 Mbps, which is still good. So the average is about 15 Mbps I think. Australia's Internet is kind of behind the times in general, but still, I am excited. About damn time.

Depressed SMF, doesn't care.
Regular SMF says this calls for cheese!

Well I posted a speed test I did on speedtest, and depending on what your settings are in your speedtest.net account, it will display different numbers for different units.
I have mine set to kilobytes per second, which displays 1234.0 kB/s and 125.5 kB/s, but in Mbps (megabits (not megabytes) per second) my download speed is 9.64 Mbps (so about 10 Mbps), and the download speed is around 1 Mbps.
So, if you have a 20 Mbps download speed that's equal to 2.5 Megabytes per second. (You knew that, but a lot of people think 10 Mbps means megabytes, not megabits)

My DSL connection drives me crazy. It's never consistent. I usually have crap download speeds at best and the connection randomly drops. Been thinking about switching to cable for some time since fioptics aren't available in my area yet.

Y64M, I'm buying a modem/router with pretty good Wi-Fi capabilities, so yes, finally, Wi-Fi! WHOOOOO!

Thanks Nin, heh, this has been long overdue so we're kind of going all out and getting everything, like the Wi-Fi and whatnot.

And I just checked the distance from the local telephone exchange and my house (which according to my service provider, affects the overall speed). I'm about 1.5km away from it, and the chart says about 15Mbps speeds, so that's about 1.85MBps I think... something like that. So good lord, I'm going to have a frenzy. First stop; downloading full soundtracks of video games. *flies around like a flightless bird on steroids*

65 mbps? Not .... 65 kbps?

Downloading an MP3 took 15 minutes. Now it takes ... ooh... well, in my case, a second. In some people's cases, a whole album can be downloaded in just a few minutes, or seconds even.

Also, in unrelated news, IT'S WINDY! It says about 23 mph (gusts not sustained), and er... it's supposed to be 8 degrees (celsius), and it's supposed to feel like 6 degrees (wind chill), yet it feels a lot colder than what the wind chill itself should be <__________<

So er.... anyway, dantheman, are you suggesting you can download a 1 gigabyte file in no less than 2 minutes and 6 seconds? (Yes, I calculated that) Just to prove, take a speedtest at speedtest.net
If it displays about 8125.0 kB/s (if you don't have it set to kB/s it'll most likely be set to display in mbps for you, but for me it's in kB/s), then I'll believe you.

Just to prove the fact it displays differently for me, unless you have set it to display in kilobytes, then for me, my sig says 1234.0 kB/s and 125.5 kB/s. You might see it as 9.64 Mbps and 0.98 Mbps or something.

Ok just too clear something up Mb is MegaBITS MB is megaBYTES

Anyways Congratulations! I too am getting good interwebs soon. Currently though.....

This is my 70$ internet that im getting half the speed because the owner lives 1 house away from us and is splitting the price. Now im going to get better internet by upgrading to the 100$ one and getting a cable to hook me up directly to it. In the end we will have a little bit more than 2.0 megabytes per second download speed, upload will be about .5 and ping will be in 400's which is enough to barely play gmod, which is what I want.

Living in the country and haveing your grandparents own your internet is great isn't it?

Heh, 65Mbps for wireless is pretty fast, isn't it? But I don't know what goes on wherever dantheman is, all I know is that here in Australia, that's kind of unheard of.
