So, what do you think of New Super Mario Bros U re-using some music from New Super Mario Bros Wii fo

Many people are just complaining like mad about this. The thing is, most of the time, they only talk about the re-used music, and somehow, what is new, in terms of music, doesn't exist to them. "No new music", they say.

The new music that's been heard is from the Overworld, Athletic, Snow, and all 8 world map themes, I believe. That's at least 10 new tunes. There's probably a new title screen, and stuff. However, from recent trailers, it appears that the Desert, Beach, Underwater, Airship, Castle, Tower, and Boss themes, amongst others, are re-used.

So, do you think Nintendo are being lazy? Or don't you care because it's Mario and it'll be awesome anyway?

It is lazy. Who cares if the map themes are different? Those aren't the tunes you'll be listening to when you actually play the game.

This was confirmed? Ooh. that hurts if this is true. It hurts a lot.

Well, unless GameXPlain and other people have a special version of the game with re-used music, and Nintendo are going to surprise us at the last minute:

I!!! Don't freaking care. Isn't it funny that the reused music seems to get more attention than the game itself? Its as if people don't want to talk about what's NEW in a New Super Mario Bros. game.

"This game is lazy, it has no new tunes!"

"Yeah it does, it has these mus--"

"WHO CARES?!"

Your comment in a nutshell. By the way, guy, people ARE going to listen to the map music. Are you saying the WORLD MAP isn't a notable part of the game?

Exactly. Personally, I am a bit annoyed at how they (Nintendo) seemed to be like "Well, that's another new track done. Hooray. Um..... eh, what the heck, just stick the NSMBWii tracks on for the rest of them... no one'll notice <_<" ... I'm still getting the game, because the music is only part of it. What IS new, is awesome.

But people complaining about the 'reused music' is nowhere near as annoying as the people who claim that it's "the same as the Wii version", it's a "rehash", and that it has "nothing new whatsoever". Heck people tell others to play on the Wii version and say that "if you want to play the game early", you should play on that one, as if the U version is just the Wii version just in HD.

I barely hear people call it a rehash altogether. The people complaining about the music, however, are EVERYWHERE.

You don't buy the game so you can stare at the map. You buy it for the levels, and if the levels lack new music, it means laziness on the developer's part. How would you like it if every Zelda game used the Zelda 1 dungeon theme every time, just slightly remixed? How would you like it if in every Sonic game, the first level always used Green Hill's music? It's lazy, no map theme can redeem the game from that.

Apparently in your world, stopping to look or listen to the scenery isn't common practice.

You buy it for the levels, and if the levels lack new music, it means laziness on the developer's part.

Oh, I thought I PLAY LEVELS not LISTEN TO THEM. I can't listen or use the world map but I HAVE to sit and listen to every LEVEL music piece? By the way, kid, the overworld, athletic, and snow music are all new.

How would you like it if every Zelda game used the Zelda 1 dungeon theme every time, just slightly remixed?

I'd be freaking fine with it.

How would you like it if in every Sonic game, the first level always used Green Hill's music?

What Sonic game DOESN'T have a reference to Green Hill?

Let's see here.

New Super Mario Bros 2 had the same music for every single level theme, and the only new music was the Reznor theme, the three 'secret' worlds, and the DLC shop, and maybe a few others.

New Super Mario Bros U's NEW music OUTWEIGHS the old music.

That's my point. People, like you, complain about the reused music, and act as if THERE ARE NO new songs AT ALL. The OVERWORLD theme is new. The SNOW OVERWORLD theme is new. The ATHLETIC theme is new.

The only reused tracks are some of the menus, bosses, towers, castles, deserts, beachs, forests, haunted places, underwater areas, and possibly something else.

I'm pretty disappointed by the music, but other than that this game looks "new" enough to me...

No need to get all worked up over it. I'm just saying, for the developers to reuse old music 3 times in a row is lazy, no matter which way you look at it. I think that if you're making a new game, all the music should be new. Only about 1 or 2 tracks should be the same, if any.

Also, the Zelda 1 dungeon theme would be terrible in a place like this.

Also also, Sonic 2, 3, 4, Adventure, Heroes, Shadow, Secret Rings, Unleashed, Colors. That's just off the top of my head.

Hypocrite. And your comparison's crap. NSMBU just reuses specific themes for specific levels. You're implying that something like the forest theme is in every freaking level ever.

And yeah, let's not try to think of reasons why they did this (maybe because music is nothing compared to making the game actually fun with a truck-load of content.), lets just label them lazy because screw trying to think logically.

Calm down. I never said anything about the game other than the music. You act like I'm saying the whole game is bad. I'm not. I'm not even saying the music is bad, I'm only saying that I'd rather have a completely new soundtrack rather than what we've been getting with the NSMB games. No need to call names, no need to judge, it's just an opinion.

I'm gonna agree with Link 70222 that this is some lazy bull. Nintendo keeps pulling this crap recently and it's about time someone besides me is discussing it.

-SM3DL was waaaaay too easy. (How could they go from "The Perfect Run" to this?)
-Skyward Sword's controller response was terrible.
-Skyward Sword used the same boss 3 times and you had to go back to the 3 main dungeons twice, instead of making new areas.
-Skyward Sword's musical instrument (which usually plays a big role in the Zelda series) was barely used and there was no creativity behind it other than time your hand movements.... are you kidding me?
-Mario Kart 7 was rushed.
-NSMB2 and NSMBU are being released within 5 months of each other. That's practically the same game being released twice this year. (Yea I know they're different, but come on, we don't need them this close to each other)
-Sticker Star isn't the Paper Mario we've come to love (complex turn based combat, badges, partners, etc)
-Nintendo Land is a complete scam just to make children aware of Nintendo's titles so that when they make a new "F-Zero" or "Animal Crossing" the children will go "Hey mommy, look, it's Captain Falcon!" thus more profit. Now, come on, we're all sensible gamers here, but anyone with an economical brain can see this game is a setup.
-The Wii U's price is ridiculous (and I'm paying for the Deluxe)
-The 3DS XL (LL) was released a little over a year after the 3DS' initial launch

Agree with me or not, these are some lazy mistakes and we as gamers can make a change, but we've got to get angry and be aware of what they're doing, we've got to say no so they make more quality games. It's like they're only doing this for money now, it really is sad.

And that's my rant. Feel free to yell at me on my profile.

But that's the problem with 100% of the internet now. You don't just complain about the bad stuff, you deliberately LOOK for bad stuff TO complain about, and just ignore the good stuff.

Well, I look at it like this. If it's good, I'm gonna like it and nothing could really be done to make it better. I try to find the bad in everything so that it could be more perfected (implying my opinion means anything). If that makes sense.
