So what's the point of Synchronoise?

Let's face it, Gen V brought us tons of gimmicky moves, one of them is Synchronoise. It's a Psychic type move, has a useless 70 base power, and what makes it stand out is it can only hit Pokemon of the same type, so that means if an Umbreon uses this move it will always deal 0 damage, while the only two Pokemon that can use it to deal super effective damage are Kecleon and Gallade. So what's even the point of creating this move?

Think about double/triple battles. Gallade can hit several things with it and not have to worry about hitting your own team. It is the only Psychic move that hits multiple opponents (that I recall). Also, at least it isn't as bad as Constrict and things like that after they were nerfed in later gens. You can also make this work with tricking the opponent a Ring Target, but that takes another turn.

I actually love many of the gimmicky moves this gen. After You is FANTASTIC in double/triple battles and Me First is a hilarious way to counter Dragon/Ghost types. Particularly since Dragons tend to be locked in on a move.

Wasn't this an ability that causes statue effects to pass on to the pokemon that caused it (if it can be done)
Example: Pikachu used thunder wave on gardevoir (one of the pokemon I knew had this) It's obvious what thunder wave causes so syncronize makes pikachu get paralysis too.

Nope. The ability is called Synchronize, you are right about that, but the move is called Synchronoise.

Well you can see the obvious confusion

I like a lot of the moves in gen 5 and its not a gimmick...gimmick means: a piece of trickery or manipulation intended to achieve a result dishonestly, people use this word wrong all the time lol
