So, what's the story behind the event legendaries?

Well at the time, my game was in japanese so I don't know the exact details, the only one i have is Vctini (the orange one.).
It's on an island near of the city in what appears to be a child's room in a lighthouse of some sort, I actually think Victini s a tourist attracton. Well, when you arrive on the island via boat, you discover the island is under Team Plasma's control. You fight your way into the buildng/lighthouse to find Victini in it's room cornered by a team plasma member, but as it turns out, the Team plasms member was defeated by Victini. You then get attacked by Victini and capture it. Afterwards the police arrive and storm the island and if i remember correctly they either take team plasma away, or team plasma manages to get away before being caught.

All I know is that Genosekuto was a bug that Team Plasma took and turned ruthless and reckless, and outfitted it with a metal suit.
