I saw this in my GI recently, it's basically a wireless keyboard that is only powered by the light that comes from the sun or your house light blubs. Much like a calculator. I say it's a good investment in cutting back electricity bills.

The keyboard looks nice, but the flat keys and thinnness make it look less durable compared to old style mechanical keyboards with bigger raised keys, and springs under neath them, and make typing sounds.

Plus, I'm not sure if people who are too used to the old fashion keyboards can type as fast on this keyboard which does not look like it is made for speed typing like the trustworthy mechanical keyboard, or will eventually wear out from people who type super fast, and hard because they are too used to typing very hard on a mechanical keyboard.

This keyboard is expensive at $79.99 on the website. Most $10-30 USB keyboards can use at most 2.5W of power since USB can only supply 2.5W from your computer to a single USB port.

2.5W is less then 1 5W Christmas light.

I think it will take a long time for the average person to save 80 dollars in electricity by using a solar keyboard to save back the money from using a keyboard since an iPad and other tablet computer which uses a lot more electricity only cost about $1.36 or less a year to run according to http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2163501/iPad-electricity-cost-Gadget-uses-1-36-power-year.html , so it takes over 50 years or more to save back the 80 dollars if electricity prices don't rise.

Replacing your heater with one which use less gas, or electricity, will save more power.

That is where you are wrong as I got the same type of keyboard. the thinness is great as I find it easier to type on, I actually let my 3 year old nephew play on it and he couldn't do any damage as to compared to a old keyboard where he ripped a lot of the keys off on a old style raised one. I find flat keyboards very nice.

It will sure stink while you are playing a PC games in a dark room like at those PC Gaming Lan Parties for hours, and the battery runs out of power, and can't be charge because there is not enough sun light or light to charge it fast enough before the gaming party is over, and your gaming clan lost the tournament because your keyboard ran out of power, and it can't be charge because the room is too dark.

I prefer wired, or AA battery powered keyboards since they never run out of power, and it is easy to find an AA battery and put it into the battery slot.

I once had a problem with a PC shutting down, but it was related to a loose big plastic power plug for the biggest circuit board inside my desktop computer.
