Here are some interesting things that happen when you add/subtract or multiply numbers together that you may or may not already know!
So addition and subtraction facts!
By the way, we won't be discussing decimals here! Just whole numbers! Decimals will have different results, which would make this topic meaningless!
So anyways:
If you add or subtract two odd numbers together, the resulting sum or difference will always be an even number!
O ± O = E
If you add or subtract two even numbers together, the resulting sum or difference will always be an even number!
E ± E = E
If you add or subtract an even number and an odd number together, the resulting sum or difference will always be an odd number!
E ± O = O
Alright, let's take this further... How about some multiplication?
If you multiply two even numbers together, the resulting product will always be an even number!
E * E = E
If you multiply two odd numbers together, the resulting product will always be an odd number!
O * O = O
If you multiply an odd number and an even number together, the resulting product will always be an even number! Furthermore, once you get an even product, you can't EVER make it odd again, no matter WHAT number you continue to multiply it with! It will ALWAYS be an EVEN number!
O * E = E * E = E * O = E * O * O = E
There you go! I hope you found this interesting! Again, you may already know this or not! This is only when you use whole numbers! Decimals may have different results, which would render all of this moot!
