sourceA Sony executive has addressed recent PS4 firmware updates that caused issues with Evolve's alpha, the console's standby mode, its YouTube app, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and more.
Speaking with VG247, SCE Australia's managing director Michael Ephraim said:
"Listen: we're really, really apologetic. Dealing with network and digital -- I'm not trying to spread or deflect anything, but dealing on such a robust network is a tricky experience. The good thing is we've launched 2.01, which has fixed the rest mode, and has fixed the YouTube app."
PlayStation 4 firmware 2.02 is also live, which addresses a variety of stability concerns, as well as the aforementioned Dragon Age: Inquisition bug. Ephraim continued:
"It was very unfortunate. We hate that. The network was down during the 2.0 release. It's very unfortunate. Those things are gonna happen over time. We're not bulletproof on those things."
The PS4 continues to outpace the PS2 in sales, and it's even challenging Nintendo's Wii as the fastest-selling console.
Also, in case you missed it, the PSN is undergoing scheduled maintenance on Monday, November 17. If you sign into PSN any time after November 13, you'll still be able to play games during the six-hour outage.
If this was still with the PS3 set up, it wouldn't be an issue. But now that we are paying Sony more, they need to get their act together and toughen up the ship.
