If there's one place where the PS4 has been missing for most of its life, it's multiplayer-focused first-party games. Sony put a handful of multiplayer-focused games out for the system, but mostly they were downloading only PSN titles, and many of them were not very successful. This is odd, because in the past, Sony had some very good multiplayer games. Twisted Metal, Socom, Jak X, Wipeout, Fat Queen, Mod Nation Racers ...

PlayStation has always been known for its immersive gaming style but I don't think it should be restricted to single player games. While I think Sony will stick to its strengths, it wouldn't hurt to strengthen either in places where they're poor. Ideally, we 're seeing more games like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Destruction AllStars being more popular on PS5, with a bigger budget than the PS4 indie-level experiments.

Did Xbox do better in this type of game?

I've seen a few people suggest this and some wanting a first person shooter from Sony. But I honestly think they should stick to what they are doing well right now. It seems that their single-player first-party games are out of this world and I can't see them moving away from that soon

I just wish they had bought the perfect dark rights :squint:
