Sony 'not thinking about PlayStation 4'

Sony has commented that the company is not entertaining the thought of producing a PlayStation 4 yet.

The PlayStation 3 was released in 2006, but Kaz Hirai says Sony is still fully focused on its current home console instead of looking ahead to the next generation.

Translated by Eurogamer, the SCEI chairman told Japanese website PC Impress Watch: "[The PS3] has a ten-year lifecycle.

"This means that we aren't even at the halfway point. There are certainly many more desirable first- and third-party titles coming out. As we announce and implement new initiatives on an annual basis, I still believe in the importance of improving the software and feature set of the PS3.

"I think the value of the PS3 will continue to rise. Because of this, a near-future PS4 or next-generation home console is not something that we are even debating now."

Last year, Sony released the PlayStation Move for the PS3.

what a lie, someone at sony is working on a PS4 weather it be putting something together or thinking it up.

Doubt it. They have the Xperia Play, NGP, and PlayStation Tablet to deal with. Plus there is strong support for the PS3.

I won't be please with this until I see the KH series and .hack series gets the PS3 port treatment.

Don't count on either. Square is to bastardly to, and .hack wasn't too popular.

those stats are BS, I've seen .hack forums with larger numbers then those. and I know for a fact it's bigger then the sly cooper series.

I agree. I think the PS3 is fine right now and capable of lasting a few more years. Unless Microsoft and Nintendo release something new and start leaving Sony behind, I don't think a new console is necessary.

game sales may or not be low, but I know more .hack stuff has been brought to the states then KH stuff.

that's exactly what I think. I think they're just now getting the most out of all the consoles on the market, and the only company I would "allow" to make a new console even right now would be Nintendo. Cause ya know, a Wii HD or new console would be pretty cool.
