The closing of Sony Reader store is unfortunate for eBook buyers who bought books from Sony eBook Reader Store since it may mean they can't download their eBooks again if they buy a new eReader or tablet from Sony, or another brand. I think Amazon is the only safe place to buy eBooks since Kobo and Barnes&Noble may end up like Sony who is closing eBook stores, closing retail stores, and getting rid of departments like their PC Business and Reader store.

I think this is the dangers of buying paid digital products from eBook stores, App stores, Games stores like PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam, and anything digital. If the company decides to close down their online store, you risk losing access to content you paid for, or can't download it again when you buy a new device to replace your broken device.

If they sold books for a cheaper price than others they could have kept it open.

I agree if they sold better books it would still be open.

Japanese like to read manga, so if Sony sold more Manga, and comic books their eBook store still be popular with the Japanese, and Comic and Manga fans.

Selling game guides for their many Playstation 1-4 games would probably increase sales since a lot of people like reading game guides, and the online versions of GameFAQ are kind of hard to use since their text files with no pictures.
