Sony Interactive Entertainment announced in Japan that it will no longer accept repairs for the first PlayStation 4 models CUH-1000 and CUH-1100 after December 25, 2020.

The Japanese press release noted that SIE had to end repairs for these early PlayStation 4 models because it is running out of spare parts needed to fix them. Even with the last orders made for these models through the Online Repair Reception Service and PlayStation Customer Support on December 25, 2020, the company will only deal with consoles that arrive at the PlayStation Clinic by January 8, 2021.

Not great but I understand why they have to do it. Hopefully, people can still rely on third-party companies to repair their consoles

And others will follow soon once PS5 gets more used.

before the whole covid thing blew up, I bought a second ps4; well the first one... broke (had a flashing yellow light with no menu on screen) So I sent it to Sony for repairs in December (warranty is still good), then received it back in February this year. Guess I have a back-up? haha. It's too bad, but... hopefully the two ps4 consoles I own will last. haha

damn, 2 months? I could keep myself with my Switch but I would not want to be that long without one.
