Reports from Japan this week say Sony is working on giving their HDTV lineup the Nintendo 3DS treatment; allowing viewers to enjoy 3D without the aid of 3D glasses.
Sony's senior vice president, Yoshihisa Ishida, let the proverbial cat out of the bag this week at the company's Tokyo headquarters, telling the Associated Press: "Seeing 3D without glasses is more convenient."
The news comes as a bit of a surprise given the company's aggressive stance on popularizing 3D media through 3D films via Sony Pictures Entertainment, 3D home entertainment products by way of Sony Electronics, and 3D gaming with Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation 3.
The company's confirmed development of glasses-free alternatives is perceived to be a direct reaction to Toshiba's introduction of several glasses-free displays earlier this week, though Sony was reluctant to commit to specific launch plans.
"We must take account of pricing before we can think about when to start offering them," Ishida said.

If I had bought a 3Dtv I be really mad that I be out on a glasses free tv.
