Even though Sony has a very strong lineup of exclusive titles for the PlayStation 3 in its library, does that mean they're selling well? According to NPD numbers dug up by gamasutra.com, the answer would be "not really".
LittleBigPlanet, one of Sony's biggest titles of the year, only managed to rake in approximately 611,000 unit sales for the year, while Resistance 2, Sony's other main holiday release, pulled in even less with roughly 598,000 units sold. These aren't terrible numbers, but being that they served as the main exclusives for the system during the holiday season, the sales figures are certainly disappointing.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which was released back in June, has managed to sell through around 1,076,000 copies. Respectable, yes, but given that it is undoubtedly the biggest exclusive for the system to date, those numbers are again somewhat disappointing.
In comparison, Gears of War 2, released in mid-November for the Xbox 360 and after all three of the mentioned titles, has already sold more than two million copies.
