Why South Korea's president suddenly declared martial law

Yoon Suk-yeol's move was spurred not by external threats but by his own desperate political troubles.

Lasted for around 8 hours I believe. It thankfully failed badly within the first hour and so far I've heard little of anyone actually fighting but this could have badly if the president actually had a brain.
 
I saw it in the news, but am I blind but not seeing a reason why martial law was declared?
 
Thankfully, there dont seem to be many news reports of many South Korean people getting seriously injured during martial law.
 
They apparently tried to impeach him and failed

 
I read on the news that a lot of workers at Hyundai Korea plan to go on strike because they want the President to be impeached.

I tell people we are screwed if the military ever gets a mind of its own, and they never believe me. This is an example of what I mean lol.
