Well, this is a bolt from the blue: Square Enix has announced its intention to sell Hitman developer IO Interactive. The studio – behind one of the best games of the previous year – was believed to be working on a second season of stealth missions, but now the much-loved brand’s future has been put in jeopardy.

In a note to investors, the Japanese published warned of a $42 million loss in its financial results, which it attributed to the sale of the Danish organisation. “To maximise player satisfaction as well as market potential going forward, we are focusing our resources and energies on key franchises and studios,” it said in a statement.

This is crazy to me. The game is probably one of the best reviewed and loved Hitman games in a while. Seems to have sold poorly due to the game model (i.e. seasons, episodes, etc.) hopefully the studio survives and we keep getting good Hitman games.

If it sold poor for that, I fear for FF 7 remake.

I think they are really focusing on that and the Marvel IP. Which I personally think is a mistake. FF7 remake seems pretty niche to me and they are mixing things up a lot it could alienate current fans of the game.

question is, alienate how many fans vs fans that can become of this remake?

It's still a JRPG which I think has its following of course but how many people who are interested in JRPG's haven't played the original FF7?

considering FF 7 is on nearly every platform in both legal and illegal ways, everyone knows about it unless you're too young and just into FPS.
