Square Enix filed a lawsuit late last month against a group of individuals the publisher claims purposely leaked a preview version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which would later be distributed through torrent websites.
First reported by Patent Arcade, the publisher believes one or more individuals logged into a restricted Steam account made for gaming press to preview early builds of titles. The Italian gaming magazine "Giochiper il Mio Computer" was authorized to access the demo, however, in late May Square Enix claims numerous individuals would log into the account and copy the game file.
The publisher says it does not currently know the names of the individuals, but believes they are residents of Italy and are non-resident aliens of the United States. Once identified, they'll be added to the lawsuit. Square is seeking the individuals be held for copyright infringement, liable for unauthorized access to a protected computer, and other financial damages.
