Star Fox 64 3D will have three gameplay modes when it launches according to a Japanese retailer. Someone at Shibuya’s Tsutaya store tweeted details about the upcoming 3DS game. The three modes are N64 mode, 3DS mode, and Versus mode. N64 mode will be the game as it was on the N64 back in 1997.

3DS Mode:

* 3DS Mode utilizes the 3DS' gyro sensors for Arwing control. Gamers would be able to pilot ships by moving the handheld console.

Versus Mode:

* In Versus Mode you'll be able to set up battles with up to four players. Star Fox 64 3D has the download and play option which means you'll only need one game to use multiplayer. According to the detail leak, it won't support online battles.

These details have yet to be confirmed by Nintendo. The North American release date of Star Fox 64 3D is also unconfirmed.

The lack of online play is a bummer, and may actually be a deal breaker for some.
I wasn't really planning on picking this up anyway, but at least they're trying some new things with it. I wonder if the Gyro control will be any good?
