Just read from Dualshockers and Cinelinx on the rumor:

Cinelinx said that EA is currently working on a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game that would serve as a remake of sorts for the original title. This information comes from two separate sources that spoke with Cinelinx and explained that this new KOTOR project would be more of a sequel than an actual remake due to how it would be altered. The game is said to incorporate elements of the first two games, such as certain story beats, that would officially bring them into the current Star Wars canon. A specific developer or studio that could be working on the project wasn’t mentioned. EA has a variety of Star Wars projects that are currently in the works outside of this rumored Knights of the Old Republic remake too.
 
I am really hope it's true. Need new great Star Wars rpg.
 
Read from CBR:

Schreier confirmed to the gaming news site that EA won't be creating the game's remake. Instead, it will reportedly be created by gaming studio Aspyr Media and is believed to be in development. At the time of this writing, it's not clear if the remake will be solely focused on compatibility to next-generation platforms or if it will be a complete redesign/update of in-game graphics and functions.
