Gaming accessory maker SteelSeries has recently announced the SteelSeries Nimbus. This is an MFi gaming controller that has been designed for the Apple TV in mind. It will come with certain features that mimics that of the Apple remote, such as the large Menu button which presumably functions the same on the remote.

This looks like a nice controller. I like that it is black, and not overly shinny.

The controlller is made by SteelSeries which is a third-party controller company like MadCatz, Nyko, and Logitech.

That explains it then. It doesn't look as sleek as the devices Apple usually makes.
