A downloadable WiiWare version of Super Meat Boy has been cancelled, developer Team Meat confirmed over Twitter yesterday.
The team did say, however, they are looking to bring the game to Wii through a retail release, but that initiative is currently "looking grim."
The WiiWare version was scrapped after the team concluded it could fit the game under Nintendo's 40MB cap limit, which would require cutting many of the Super Meat Boy's features.
"There is no way to avoid the fact that if we released a 40MB version of Super Meat Boy it would be a shit version of the game," designer Edmund McMillen told Joystiq. "It's a lose lose situation, but the fact of the matter is if we release a shitty game, we will have to live with that for the rest of our careers and have to cop to the fact that it is a shitty game."
Super Meat Boy was first released through Xbox Live on Oct. 20, 2010 and later on PC in December. A Mac version is slated for release "in a few months." There are currently no plans to bring the game to PlayStation Network due to contractual obligations.

why is there a limit?
