I , personally, love the surface pro. I travel for a living and it is very very handy. The thing I love about it the most is it's a computer. The Ipad can't use java and just seems like a "tablet".
If I was force to choose between only the Surface or iPad, I pick an iPad since it has more mobile tablet apps, and games which work well on a large touchscreen.
The number of high quality Windows Store mobile app and game is not as good or big as iOS, Android, and the Amazon Underground App Store which has a lot of mobile apps like Google Play, and free paid apps which cost money to buy on Google Play and iOS, but free on Amazon's Underground App Store.
I'm also afraid that Microsoft will discontinue the Windows Store like Games for Windows Live which was a failed Steam and Origin online games store competitor. Games for Windows is now gone which may have betrayed some users and game makers who used Games for Windows Live, and made and downloaded games from the service.
Windows Phone has less users these days, so there is a chance that the Windows Store would be discontinued in Windows 10 if not enough Windows 10 users use it, and complain that the Windows Store and Store Apps like Xbox and the News App is unwanted, and taking up too much space on their PC.
Microsoft remove the Startbutton and Menu in the future like Windows 8 which causes a lot of MS core desktop users to be very disappointed. There is a chance MS would remove the entire Windows Store mobile app store if not enough people use it, or MS think it is better that the Windows Store is gone.
I already own a desktop PC, and rarely need to use PC programs on a tablet or laptop when I am out of my home. I prefer using a Desktop PC with a big monitor at home or in an office or classroom.
