Switzerland not so neutral on violent video games.

The Swiss have been able to stay neutral throughout many of history's major conflicts. Now the Swiss government aims to keep extreme video games
out of the country.

Swiss National Council has officially passed a law that will most likely lead to a ban on violent video games, reported MCVUK. While exact details won't be revealed until the Swiss government announces the new guidelines, it's expected that any game that "requires cruel acts of violence against humans and humanlike creatures for in-game success" will be banned, as per the original motion.

This would likely affect most games rated 16+ or 18+ by the Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) body.

they can ban it but people with resources can still get them.

Though I think it's stupid that people want to ban violent games, blaming them for people's own violence, I wonder if this would actually help anything.

If people take away violent video games, will there be a decline in violence? I do believe that some people do think violence in acceptable, just because it is in video games. By making video games about violence, it gives kids the idea that since it's in games, it's not that big of a deal in real life.

For some people anyway. For those who have a strong, intelligent minds, violent games wont make them idiotic. :p

I was working on a post about this until Opera crashed for no reason.. and so I am pretty pissed right now..

That being said, I think that this is a stupid move that will end up causing more harm than good.

Kids will only think that violence is ok, and that video games are real, only if their parent's allow them to think so.

For many, video games provide an outlet for anger and other aggressive feelings.. and I think that this effect can be seen in the fact that despite the popularity of video games like this, that youth violence has decreased by more than 49%.

Bottomline, Parents need to step up to the plate and raise their kids, instead of allowing video games, and tv do so..
