Older people are increasingly going online, in part thanks to tablets, according to the U.K. telecommunications regulator. In one of its periodical media use reports, Ofcom noted on Tuesday that 42 percent of those aged over 65 accessed the web in 2013, up from 33 percent in 2012.

I think the low cost, and easy to use user interface of a tablet make more older people use them to go online.

Tablets are also pretty easy to maintain since there are no cooling fans which break. Finding apps is easy to find in the App store on Google Play, and iTunes app store.

Good for them. Now they just need to make detailed guides for them on how to use their new devices and all the fancy gadgets it holds.

I recently saw on TV that Community Colleges, and Adult educational schools are holding classes on how to use tablets like iPads, and Android tablets for adults who want to learn how to use a tablet.

I think these classes are very affordable.

There are also a lot of books available at the library, and book stores on how to use iPads, and Android tablets.

I think it's good that more older people are online. It might take them way longer to learn how to "get around" so to speak on the internet, but they can do it.

One of the benefits of being older is that you usually have a lot of time because of retirement from full time work, and not having to go to school, so there is a lot of time to learn tasks like how to use the internet.

I think there are now a lot of affordable courses at community college, and community centers for learning to go online, and using tablets, e-mail clients, social networks, and web browsers. Some colleges even offer free computer courses for seniors.
