Word of Namco Bandai's new "Tales of" series plans leaked out last week. Today, the publisher formally announced its upcoming lineup and shared first media.
Following Xbox 360 and Wii, it looks like PS3 and PSP will be the next primary platform for the series. PS3 now has two Tales games in development, Tales of Graces F and a currently unnamed game. PSP has the next entry in the Tales of the World subseries on the way.
Tales of Graces F is an updated port of Wii's Tales of Graces. The "F" stands for Future. In addition to updated HD visuals, new costumes, and new attacks, PS3 owners can look forward to a new post game sequence set six months after the events of the original. This looks like it will be a hefty piece of content, as its voice script is 3/4 the length of the full Graces game.
Japan will get Tales of Graces F this Winter.
The main PS3 attraction will follow. The unnamed game announced at the event is to be the next "mothership" title in the series ("mothership" is what Namco Bandai uses to describe primary games in the series -- Vesperia, Destiny, and Graces all fall under the label).
Designed as the 15th anniversary title for the series (the first Tales game was released for the Japanese Super NES in 1995), the new game features art direction from Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World character designer Daigo Okumura. That's all we know at the moment. The game's character designer and theme song performer have yet to be decided, suggesting that the game is a ways off.
