Pretty soon, fans of Tetris will be able to enjoy the puzzle game on their TVs without the need for a video game console.
Casual games company Oberon Media announced a deal with the game's licensor that allows them to distribute Tetris to Internet-connected TVs and Blu-ray players later this year.
The new game will introduce a new Space Mode which includes a series of mini-games and other challenges.
Oberon does not specifically state which TV manufacturers it is working with, but Jonathan Boltax, senior director of iTV Services for Oberon Media, says they are planning partnerships with "numerous leading TV brands."
Devices with Tetris included will launch during the first quarter of 2011.
Earlier, video game streaming service OnLive announced it is integrating with Vizio's upcoming line of televisions, Blu-ray players and mobile devices.
